Marguerite “Pansy” McMillan, 89, of Roanoke, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Marguerite, known by her friends and family as “Pansy” was born in Pulaski, Va. on June 8, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband, James McMillan; her parents Edd Alley and Beulah O’Bryan Alley, and her brother, Bill Alley.

Family members remaining to cherish her memory includes: four sons, Jerry W. McMillan and wife Carolyn; George M. McMillan and wife Loretta; Joseph R. McMillan and wife Jennifer; and Jan S. McMillan and wife Janet; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also remaining is one special foster son, Joe Morgan and his wife Shelia; along with a host of others.

Pansy was a foster mother for 20 years and provided a home for approximately 200 children during that time. Her home was filled with approximately 10 boys at a time including her own 4 children. She was also a member of Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise now known as Valley Church and a resident at Carrington Place in Botetourt County for 3 ½ years prior to her death. The family would like to thank all the staff at Carrington Place for taking such wonderful care of both our parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, VA with Pastor Jason Cook officiating.
