Aunt Dot was always a special aunt for me While growing up, I looked forward to visiting her, uncle Bill, and my cousins on annual trips to Roanoke because of their warmth and happy dispositions. She made the effort to keep in touch for many years. After she moved into assisted living, she was still willing and able to help me with genealogical research by sharing photos & memories and re-acquainting me with long-lost Vest cousins. Bless her heart. Nephew Jim York

Dorothy is remembered by many as a loving, caring and kind spiritual lady. However, a favorite memory of mine is of a smart, quick, nimble and generous big sister. I was in grade school at a time before television when phone handsets were attached with chords to rotary dial bases. A favored way of getting people to listen to radio was to pose periodic questions that awarded a cash prize to the first person to call with the correct answer. My big sister Dot won a prize by proving to be smart enough to know the answer, quick enough to get to a phone and nimble enough to dial the correct number rapidly.
What came next proved her generosity. She insisted on using the prize money to pay for swimming lessons for me at the YMCA. This began a chain of events that led to sports, scholarships and careers. I thank God for my big sister Dot and the family that we were born into including a wonderful Mother whose many great characteristics were also found in Dorothy.
Nira, Vickie, Cynthia, Leslie and I send love and prayers of comfort to Gary, Joel, Debbie, Chris, Lee, Becky, David, April, William, the 15 grandchildren and 14 plus one great grandchildren.

So sad about the loss of my Sweet Aunt Dot.
In my childhood she was a treasure, of her siblings reminded me most of my beloved Grandma Flossie and my own wonderful Father John. I see their faces in her lovely picture here and it gives me comfort even today. A lovely soul for the ages.

God Bless our Dot

Warm summer sun, shine kindly here;
Warm southern wind, blow softly here;
Green sod above, lie light, lie light;
Good night, dear heart, good night, good night.

Dot's store was always a special stop when shopping at Tanglewood. She could make even a pudgy, gawky pre-teen feel like a beautiful model. Her smile and her hugs were the best a cousin could get. I will miss her and my prayers for peace are with you.

My heart is sad but I do rejoice in know Dot is now at home with her Lord. Such a precious lady and great friend. She was a true jewel and a friend I will always treasure.It was always a joy to see her and Bill and visit with them but in the last years I have enjoyed the times we shared on the phone. It was a blessing to have know Dot many years and I will miss her just knowing she is no longer in this world but so thankful I will see her again one day. To her family your heart has to have peace because you have done your best for making her last days sweet and you are blessed to have been able to call Bill and Dot Brammer your parents. May God's love surround you and His peace fill you. You are in my prayers cause I know she left a big empty spot. In Christ Love. Phyllis Johnston

I remember as a child I would go to sunday church with Becky, David, Lindsey, and Andrew plus a few other neighborhood kids and when it was over we would stop by The Brammer's after church and have cake Mrs. Brammer had made And listen to her and Mr. Brammer tell stories. I remember there was a pool table in the basement all us kids would go and play. Mrs Brammer would bring us down drinks or snacks its one of my favorite memories of being a child. Thank you for being a part of my life.
