Donald Dempsey “Demp” English, 87, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born December 23, 1929 in Vinton. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart and worked for the V A Medical Center for 21 years. He was a loyal longtime member of Vinton Baptist Church and after he was no longer able to attend he faithfully supported the church and the Lord’s work. He was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Georgie English; his loving wife of 35 years, Linda Cook English, and his infant son, David Donald English.

Surviving family includes his brother, Darrell C. English; extended family, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Deanna Gordon; nieces and nephews, Judy Gordon, Terry Gordon (Vicky), Wesley Gordon (Sheri), Happy Parker (Ed), David Wheeler (Rene), Susan Quesenberry (Mike), Ann Vaught, Gayla Thomas (Ashley), his constant companion, loving cat, Molly, and numerous other cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Chris Monroe and Rev. Ricardo Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
