Timothy Dale May

Timothy Dale May, 60, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019. Timmy loved life and loved being with people. If you were his friend, he would give you the shirt off his back but would also tell you what he thought. He cherished his wife, mom, family, and his pets. He was a scuba instructor but loved diving for his own pleasure. He loved being at the beach. Timmy loved sports and competed in volley ball with Roanoke Valley Volley Ball teams. The Boston Red Sox and Virginia Tech were his favorites and he loved art work of any kind, from pottery to water color to oil paintings. He also love many types of music but his favorite was Jimmy Buffett. He was predeceased by his father, Ernest F. May.

Surviving family includes his wife, Janet May; mother, Lois H. May; siblings, Carolyn M. Webster and husband, Cary, Terry L. May and wife, Susan, and Brenda M. Lovelace and husband, Wayne; children by marriage, Summer and Jennifer Nelson, April and John Bryant, and Megan and Michael Longe; six grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his faithful pets, Hogan, Marilyn, Whiskey, and Joker.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Blue Ridge. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the family to offset medical and funeral costs.
