Shirley Ruth Correll

Shirley Ruth Correll, of Moneta, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her struggle to remain here with her family was long and hard. She endured it with grace, dignity and a smile on her face, never wanting her loved ones to see how hard it was. She received her angel wings and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has given her no more illness to bear, peace, tranquility and unconditional, unending love in heaven. She will forever be loved and missed.


Surviving family includes her husband of 56 years, Andrew Correll, Jr.; children, Lenn Ellen Thurston and husband, William Allen Thurston, Sr., Andrew Correll, Charlotte Marlene Correll, and Charlene Correll Wiggs and husband, William Bradley Wiggs, Sr.; grandchildren, Allen Thurston, Christa Thurston, Brandon Wiggs, Bradley Wiggs, Victoria Rogers, and Addison Wiggs, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
