Sara Mae Cooper, 77, of Vinton, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019. Sara was known around Vinton for her work at Delong’s Department Store, Cundiff’s Drug Store and most recently at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unmatched. She was predeceased by her parents, Geoffrey and Hallie Saunders; husband, Eugene Cooper, and brother, Ray Saunders, Sr.
Surviving family includes her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Teresa Chewning; daughter, Christie Thompson; grandchildren, Jonathan Cooper, Hannah Chewning, and Hallie Chewning; brother, Bob Saunders; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bob Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Sara (Roy) Fisher, David Howell, Ray (Annette) Saunders, Jr, and Sherrie Saunders, and many other family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
