Robert Wayne Stinnett

Robert Wayne Stinnett, 76, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was predecease by his parents Charlie and Elizabeth Mabes Stinnett; sister Carolyn Stinnett Carney; nephews Nicholas Carney and Scott Stinnett; and his infant twin daughters. He lived in S.E. Roanoke until he met his Vinton girl in 1957. They were married on August 14, 1959 and lived in Vinton where they raised 5 children. Wayne was a professional boxer in the early 1960’s. He worked for Virginia Foundry for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Sowers Stinnett; children, Matthew W. Stinnett of Vinton, Christopher R. Stinnett (Tamera) of Blue Ridge, Angela R. Stinnett of Vinton, Charles D. Stinnett of Vinton, Adam C. Stinnett of Vinton; grandchildren, Amanda L. Ellis, Stephanie R. Artrip (Tim), Conner D. Stinnett, Nicholas S. Stinnett, Evan C. Stinnett; 4 great-grandsons; brother, Marvin Stinnett of Vinton; sister Charlotte Kear (Don) of Orange, VA.; niece, Deana Griffin and a nephew Mark Henry.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 6-9 at Lotz Vinton Chapel. A funeral will be held Monday 2:00 p.m., April 30, 2018 at Lotz Vinton Chapel with a burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. Online condolences may be made at www.lotzfunralhomevinton.com
