September 16, 1932 ~ November 7, 2023 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Obituary

Louise Marie (Holdren) Walters, 91, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on November 7, 2023.  After a stroke left her longing for her heavenly home, praise the Lord she is now resting in the arms of Jesus her Savior.

Born to Edgar Thomas Sr. and Willy Hill Holdren in Virginia on a farm in Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and love of her life- Gene Richard Walters, her daughter Kathy Jean Yeatts, and her four brothers - Edgar (Eggy), Richard, Harold, and Calvin.

Mama was uniquely kind and loving to all of her family and friends.  She never met a stranger.  She was an amazing wife to Gene for 66 years, and an equally fabulous mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.   She was a joyful and peaceful woman that looked the colors off the many pictures her husband would dutifully take.  She loved the Lord, and big family gatherings were her heart, as she loved being squarely in the middle of all the "going ons".

She will never be forgotten by her daughters Vanessa L. McReynolds, and Terry W. Arbogast, or her special sons-in-law Dennis P. Yeatts, and Bobby Arbogast.  She will also be ever treasured and loved by her grandchildren Anthony & Carey Yeatts of Oklahoma, Shikara & Joseph Cerak, Richie & Jenn McReynolds, Devin & Chelsea Yeatts, Jeremy & Leslie McReynolds of Arkansas, Taryn & Nick Mazur of Alabama.   She delighted in the action and antics of the great grand children Noah, Elijah, and Joseph Yeatts, Darien, Katerina, and Abigail Cerak, Liam & Lincoln Yeatts, Riley, Caden, and Ella McReynolds, and Vivienne & Owen McReynolds, and Colt Mazur.  Stories be told - she will ever be the beloved oldest Holdren sister to Robert Morris (Moose) and Shirley Jean Holdren.  Special mention to her sisters-in-law Nancy Holdren, Ella Jean, Joyce Ann, Joyce Lynn and a great number of cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to name.   We also thank Mama's wonderful care givers, Amy & Tammy for their excellent care.

The family of Louise Marie Walters would like to thank Pastor Jason Gault of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for his visits and support during the difficult days of "goodbye."  We would also like to thank all of our family and friends that kept Mama in your prayers before and during this past week.   We extend our gratitude to the entire Palliative/Hospice Care Team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital – under Dr. Kristi Stewart, and Hospice Case Manager Ryan RN, and all the wonderful nurses of 10 South Pavilion.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 East Washington, Ave. Vinton. A celebration of Louise's life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, November 10 at Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Jason Gault officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
