Mr. Lonnie Edgar Mills

Lonnie Edgar Mills, 76, of Stewartsville, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Beatrice Mills; his wife, Nellie Mills; brother, Alton Mills and several nieces and nephews.

Lonnie was a devoted United Sates Air Force Veteran and a retired truck driver, who found solace in the great outdoors through his love for hunting and fishing. His heart was also deeply connected to his land, as reflected in the thriving farm he cared for, surrounded by the animals he cherished. May his legacy of service, adventure, and love for nature live on in our hearts. In addition to his military service and outdoor pursuits, Lonnie was a passionate tinkerer and creator. Whether crafting something with his hands or fixing things, his love for tinkering added another dimension to his rich and varied life.

Lonnie is survived by his loving family, son, Dwayne Mills (Adrienne); sister-in-laws, Evelyn Willis, Louella (Tony); brother-in-law, Donnie (Lois); nieces and nephews, Shawn, Heather, Brian and Kimberly and numerous other nieces and nephews; special great-nieces and great-nephews; and a dear friend who held a niece-like place in his heart, Missy.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 East Washington Avenue, Vinton. A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be held 10 am, November 22 at Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton.
