Linda Jo Lester King, 62, of Roanoke, loving wife to Robert King, Sr. and mother to Larry James Saunders and wife, Amanda, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. She was born December 17, 1957 in Bluefield, WVA to Larry and Betty Jo Lester. Linda worked off and on at Optical Cable Corporation for 20+ years. In November 2003, she married Robert King, Sr. who has seven children and 31 grandchildren in Virginia and Maryland. Linda loved crafts, knitting, flower arrangements, clothes, dream catchers, and making beautiful jewelry for herself and others. She never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need, often putting others before herself. She was very thoughtful and befriended everybody she met. She loved to laugh and put a smile on everyone else’s face. Linda loved her dogs and to help others.
Linda was predeceased by her father Larry and her mother Betty Jo Lester. Surviving family includes her son, Larry Saunders and wife, Amanda; husband, Robert King, Sr., his children, Kenneth W. King, Robert M. King, Jr., Theresa King Morris, Tammy Ellis, Billy King (dec), Tricia King, and Robbie King; sisters, Brenda Smith; her children, James, Courtnae, and Tristan; and Sandra Parker and son, Shannon; relatives, Charlene Wolfe and family, Pam Ferguson and family in Roanoke, Sandra and Major Compton and family in SC, Karen and Pat Baccei and family in California. Special mention to adopted family, Sherry Rothe and Chris Davis, Erin and Jonathan Stover who were more than just neighbors, and became family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the National Cancer Society.
