John Owen Carter Sr., of Roanoke, born on March 12, 1939 passed away on October 26, 2017. John served in the U. S. Navy and was a Roanoke native. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Terry) Mae Carter and daughter Dena Marie Sparks.
He is survived by his Brother, Dean Thomas Carter, sons; John Owen Carter Jr. of Roanoke, Daniel David Carter of Louisville, Kentucky, Mark Randall Carter (Bethany Scott) of Roanoke, grandchildren; Rhiannon Kay Carter, Dustin Ford Carter, Brittany Alexander Sparks, great- grandchildren; Mairynn Marie Bowles and Myka Shaye Scott
A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at the Abbey Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Park on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
