Jewell Hope Chisom

On August 16, 2021 Jewell Hope Bush Chisom (age 76) of Moneta, Virginia went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.  She was born and raised in Franklin County and graduated from Franklin County High School in 1962.  

Jewell was welcomed into her eternal home by her parents George June Bush Jr. and Devonia Robertson Bush.  She is also preceded in death by her sister Frances "Frankie" Metcalf.   

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Sherman Wayne Chisom, Sr. She is also survived by her brothers Jimmy R. Bush and Jerry W. (Janat) Bush both of Hardy, Virginia.  Her spirit lives on through her children:  Sherman Chisom, Jr. of Goodview; Peggy (David) Carroll of Salem; Patricia (Stephen) Wertz of Goodview; Vickie (Brent) Richardson of Roanoke and grandchildren Jacob & Lindsey Chisom; Christopher "CJ" Danielsen; Brittany Carroll; Nicole Biddle; Brittany Goad; Steven Biggs; Benjamin & Sarah Wertz; Samantha, Madelyn & Mackenzie Richardson and 6 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons.  

Her family was her life and she especially enjoyed spoiling all her babies.  She loved spending time outdoors enjoying all that God has created.  She had a special friend - Charlie the squirrel who she fed daily.  She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.   

Visitation will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, Virginia, on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 2 until 4pm and from 6 until 8pm followed by a celebration of life service on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 3pm officiated by pastor Bobby Harris and pastor Dr. Wayne Sellars followed by a graveside service held at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Virginia.
