Jessie M. Hacker, 86, of Moneta, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 12, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born in Hazard Kentucky on March 21, 1932 to the late Walter and Laura Fields. Her family moved to Indiana where she met and married Lester Hacker on July 27, 1951. Jessie will be remembered for her green thumb and great cooking, where everything was always made from scratch. Her and Lester spent countless hours in their garden where they would grow and sell produce for the past 40 years. One of her greatest joys was time spent in her greenhouses, where her keen eye for anything that bloomed would really shine. She was hardworking, stubborn and determined, although she could no longer work, that determination and stubbornness stayed very much a part of her until the very end.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Lester G. Hacker; sons, Pastor Jerry Hacker (Shirley) of Columbia S.C., Steve Hacker (Lisa) of Stewartsville; daughter, Laura Hutchens of Moneta; grandchildren that she loved dearly, Kimberly Owens, Jennifer Stump, Billy Hill, Jason Hill, Todd Hill, Missy Jones, Michael Stover, Todd Trent, Allen Stover, PJ Trent, and Sean Bryant; special great-granddaughter Alyson Harrison, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Kathy Furr and Teresa Witmer with Good Samaritan Hospice, for their care and compassion the past few months.
A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Pastor Jerry Hacker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
