Harold Eugene Quarles, 76, of Huddleston, Virginia passed away on May 5, 2022 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Ira Bell and Alice Bowyer Quarles of Blue Ridge, and his brother Ira Mitchell Quarles of Thaxton.
He leaves behind his wife of 22 years, Gloria C. Quarles; son, Kenneth Quarles of Hillsborough, North Carolina; daughter, Joanna Quarles Laizure and husband Casey of Memphis, Tennessee; stepson, Kevin Kinsler and wife Melinda of Gretna, Virginia; stepdaughter, Heather Weeks and husband Chris of Altavista, Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Julia and Joshua Laizure, Devon, Nathan, and Victoria Weeks, Dakota Rivera, and Haylee Kinsler.
Harold served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years, stationed in Great Falls, Montana. Following his military career, he worked in the textile and retail industries in Virginia until his retirement. He was an avid fan of bass fishing, sports (especially UVa), and his grandchildren. He was inspired by the scripture readings and gospel music that he read and played each morning.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 8, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lotz Vinton Chapel. There will be a graveside service 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1861 Jordantown Road, Thaxton, VA. with Pastor Ben Sturgis officiating.
