Harold Eugene Holdren, Sr, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of Barnhardt Baptist Church. He loved camping and Nascar races with his family and friends. Farming with his best friend, Doug Haldren was his retirement career. He went to the farm most every day for almost 25 years after retiring from the railroad. Harold was a man of few words with a heart of gold. His hugs were legendary and his love for his family, friends, and life were palpable.
He was predeceased by his parents Ed and Willie; son, Eugene; daughter, Cheryl, and brothers, Richard, Edgar, and Calvin.
Surviving family includes his wife of 62 years, Joyce; daughters, Betty Jo Harnsberger and husband, Rick, and Jennifer Barger and husband, Ray; daughter-in-law, Laura Fleshman; grandsons, Joshua Holdren and wife, Mary, and Brent Barger; granddaughters, Holly Wolff and husband, Kyle, Maggie Miller and husband, and Lee, Erin Hicks and husband, Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Isabella; great-grandsons, Conley, Colton, Wyatt, and Carson; sisters, Louise Walters and Shirley Holdren, and brother, Morris Holdren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating.
