Obituary

Everette Maynard Richardson, 82, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 following a long illness. He was born and raised in Moneta and spent many years raising tobacco and cattle for Jack Hardy Farm, was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his boats and trucks. He was a member of Glenvar Baptist Church and the American Blind Bowlers Association after losing his sight to macular degeneration. Maynard retired from S. J. Conner & Sons as a plumber and was known for exceptional backhoe skills. He was predeceased by his parents, Everette S. and Marie Hurt Richardson.

Surviving family includes his wife of 58 years, Carol Short Richardson; daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy (Dottie) and William (Gene) Hedge, and Brenda Sue (the light of his life) Richardson; granddaughters, Jamie Boone Percy (Travis), Jessica D. Boone, and Jennifer M. Boone; great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Boone; sisters and brother-in-law, Margie and Allen (Whitey) Thomas, Georgie Conner, and Judy McFaden (Morris Johnson), and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Vinton Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Chris Monroe officiating.
