Everette “Buck” Drewry
On Saturday 01/08/2022, Everette "Buck" Drewry, 89, of Lynchburg passed away from complications of Covid-19. Buck was born January 31, 1932 in Fincastle, VA. After graduation from high school he joined the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. After leaving the service, dad worked as a well-driller, insurance salesman, and eventually as a General Contractor and Carpenter. He was an extraordinary cabinet maker. On January 28, 1954 he married Jean Sprinkle of Fincastle and they were married 67 years, dying only days apart. Dad loved to farm and hunt. He was a talented musician, with no formal training, yet he could pick up an instrument and play it, and play it well. He was a storyteller and left us often wondering how much of the story was actually true, and how much was his imagination. Dad never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything.
Buck is survived by his brother; Gary Drewry (Kim) of Deerfield. Buck and Jean have four children; Dan Drewry (Kala) of Vinton Ronnie Drewry of Lynchburg, Pam Jones (Steve Sexton) of Knoxville and Judy Smith of Lynchburg. He has 7 grandchildren whom he adored, and who adored him right back; Mila Brehm (Bill), Beth Drewry, Elwyn ZImmerman (Katie), Brooke Jones, Zachary Zimmerman, Parker Jones Megan) and Emily Drewry. He also had 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews he treated like his own children.
Visitation will be at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, Virginia Wednesday, January 19 from 12:00-2:00p.m., followed by interment and a graveside service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Rusty Shepherd officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be made at www.lotzfuneralhomevinton.com
