Evelyn King Richards, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, April 1, 2022. Evelyn lived a full and meaningful life that was enriched by her faith and family. She was predeceased by her mother, Vicie Dillon; husbands, Russell E. King, Sr. and Harold E. Richards; siblings, Daniel (Helen) Dillon, Audrey (Tony) Glass, and Padgett (Lucille) Dillon; son, Russell E. King, Jr. (Donna); daughter, Vivian King Moore, and grandson, Heath Brogan.
She is survived and will be missed by her daughter, Debbie King Brogan (Richard); son-in-law, Glenn Moore; daughter-in-law, Ellen King; step-daughter, Sandy Smith (Don); nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many family friends.
Evelyn was a member of Lake Drive Church of Christ where she faithfully served for years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She took care of her family and home until later in life when she started driving a school bus for Roanoke County Public Schools, which she loved. She loved spending time with her family, especially at Christmas, but was never more thrilled than to get a trick on someone on April Fool’s Day.
A huge “thank you” to Kathy Daniel, an angel that made it bearable to leave mom at a nursing facility, the hardest working and sweetest person with older people I have ever seen. Thank you to Jamie Hawse and Lori Bowman for all your extra help and kindness. Thank you to the unit 3 nursing staff for your hard work at Berkshire Health.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Evangelist Tommy Blewett officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, consider contributions to Lake Drive Church of Christ, PO Box 109, Vinton, Va. 24179.
