Elton “Wayne” Lawhorn went to heaven Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home. He was the first-born child of Charlton Rudolph and Doris Ellena Stevens Lawhorn on September 16, 1941. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jean Elizabeth “Betty” Clatterbuck Lawhorn, sisters, Elaine Bays, Alma Schaeffer and Diane Taylor, Roanoke, VA, Valerie Epperley, Tracy, CA and Faye Seago, Princeton, WV. Wayne is also survived by nieces, Teresa Carpentieri, Angella Haranzo and Christal Schaeffer; nephews, Kevin Karnes and Jeff Schaeffer, Roanoke, VA, Matthew Epperley, Livermore, CA and Sean Robertson, Princeton, WV.
Wayne became deaf at age two and graduated from the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind,
Staunton, VA, where he met his wife Betty and they discovered they were born on the same day, month and year. He retired after many years of service from Printech, Inc., previously Hammond Printing Co. Wayne’s sisters deeply appreciate his dear and caring neighbor, cousin and friend, Jeff Lawhorn.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Wayne’s memory by visiting his wife, Betty, at Springtree Health & Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7th at 1:00pm at Saunders Grove Church of the Brethren, Moneta, VA with The Rev. Glen Stevens officiating.
