Edison J. Thomas Sr., 92, of Vinton, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Dovie St. Clair Thomas; daughter, Sue Campbell; son, Phillip Thomas; brothers, Robert Jr. (Brother), Sisler, Fred and Clarence (O.C.); sister, Ruby Brown. Edison served his country in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during WWII.
He is survived by his sons, Edison (Sonny) Thomas Jr. (Alice) of Florence, S.C. and Timothy M. Thomas; sister, Lois May; brother, Woodrow Thomas (Clara); grandchildren, Kim and Gary Williams, Brian and Laura Campbell and Amy Campbell; great-grandchildren, Briana and Bryce Campbell; other family members, Robert and Susie Campbell and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8, at Lotz Vinton Chapel. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 3, 2017, with Pastor Ricardo Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
