Doris Ann Duke

Our beloved mother and grandmother Doris Ann Duke entered into God’s Kingdom on September 20th 2022. She was born to Ida and Archie Mills on May 27th 1932 in Roanoke Virginia. When she was just 12 years old, she began a  long and hard battle with Polio and spent the majority of her youth in Shriners Hospital. Though her life remained difficult, she found love with Benjamin Duke. Benjamin joined God in Heaven in July of 1971 leaving behind a wife and three children.

Doris joins her Husband Benjamin Duke; parents, Ida and Archie Taylor Mills; sister, Lorrain Hartman and brothers, Wendall Mills, Oscar Mills, Roy Mills and her in Heaven.

Doris is survived by many loving family members, her brother, Bobby Mills and her children Ronald Duke, Theresa Newland and Tami Couture; two grandchildren, Tara and Amber Newland, as well as four great grandchildren, Haley and Kalie Thornhill,  Elijah Sparks and Kaydence Newland. Although she will be deeply missed, we find solace in knowing she is resting in peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating.
