David R Stohler

October 4, 1943 ~ February 6, 2024 (age 80) 80 Years Old

David Stohler passed away peacefully at his home before dawn on Tuesday February 6, 2024 after a short-lived battle with lung cancer. He was 80 years old. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He was the youngest son of 5 children born in Indiana. He married his childhood best friend Vicki in 1964 and then joined the army for 3 years, stationed in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Germany before they started their family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Violet Stohler, his brothers, Quentin Stohler, Ermil Stohler, Donald Stohler, and his nephew Brian Stohler. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Vicki; his son, Todd (Janet), his daughter Lynn (CC Glass), grandchildren Ethan and Cole Stohler, and Maci and Emily Glass. In addition he leaves behind his sister Verlena “Vee” (Jim White), sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

His love was family. He passed onto his family a legacy of love, commitment to each other, to show respect to all people, to be kind and sincere, and that there’s never a down side when it comes to helping others.

He approached every job with a sense of pride and dedication. Whether he was building fire trucks, driving fire trucks cross country, building tour buses for musicians, or cleaning an elementary school, he made human connections and friends for life wherever he went.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a deacon of Hollins Road Church of the Brethren, actively serving on the church board and completing projects with the Men’s Fellowship.

His favorite activities were to spend sunny days at the lake with his family and any friends willing to tag along, going camping at Camp Bethel, maintenance for the church, scrapping old junk, and hanging out with his grandkids. He looked forward to the Stohler reunion every year and we will all surely miss our Uncle Dave, our Papaw, our Dad, and loving husband.
