Mr. Danny Ray Mitchell

Danny Ray Mitchell, 68, of Hardy passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023. He was a son of the late John Edmond Mitchell and Sadie Jane Martin Mitchell. He retired after 25 years of service from Roanoke City. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, James, T. Calvin “BigHead” (Sue), Roger “Tinkie”; sisters, Elise Wood (Bryan), Sue Martin (James), Nancy Kennedy, Patsy Huddleston (Jerry); father-in-law, Lewis R. Chandler; and a nephew, Tony L. Huddleston.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Melody C. Mitchell; son, Richie Mitchell and girlfriend, Shannon Bale; grandsons, Trevor Mitchell and Landon Bale; mother-in-law, Omega Chandler; sisters-in-law, Tammy Hartberger (Mark), Amy McGuire (Freddie), Joyce M. Mitchell, Joyce D. Mitchell and Jamie Kennedy; numerous special nieces and nephews; special friends, Randy, Lewis, John, Jerry, David, Gene and Steve.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 E. Washington Ave. Vinton. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.lotzfuneralhomevinton.com
