Clarence E. Bowyer, 90, of Bedford County, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was a longtime member of Jeters Chapel Church of the Brethren and was pre-deceased by brothers and sisters, Thurman, Robert, Leslie, Aubrey, Pearl, Alice, Josie, and Fannie Mae.
Surviving family includes his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Spradlin; daughters, Linda (Jack) Dooley, and
Sharon (Mickey) Wanzer; grandsons, Joshua Dooley and Luke Wanzer, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He served in the US Navy as a young man. He was self-employed most of his life starting his own business, Bowyer Tile Shop, building houses, developing land and selling lots. He enjoyed years of farming, his favorite being registered Black Angus cattle, and hobbies of woodworking, gardening, and an antique 1951 Buick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Paul Stover officiating. Interment will follow in Jeters Chapel Cemetery.
