Carol Short Richardson

Carol Short Richardson, 81, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at home following a long illness. She graduated from William Byrd High School in 1958 and retired from both K-Mart and Roanoke County Schools. She was predeceased by her parents, Pete and Dot Short of Vinton; brother, Ralph Short, and sisters, Jean Hutson, Ellen Lotts, and Eloise LaReau and husband, Maynard Richardson.

Surviving family includes daughters, Brenda Sue Richardson of Glenvar, and Dottie (Gene) Hedge of Roanoke; granddaughters, Jamie (Travis) Percy, Jessica Boone, and Jennifer Boone; great-granddaughter, Olyvia; brothers, Jim (Shirley) Short and George (Ernestine) Short, and many extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton with Dr. Chris Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr Syed Haider, Dr. Nirish Shah, Dr. Vandana Karri, and her angels Diana and Anita from Good Samaritan Hospice for their care, compassion, and kindness.
