Brenda May Lovelace

May 3, 1956 ~ February 18, 2022 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Obituary

Brenda May Lovelace, 65, of Botetourt, formerly of Salem, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. Brenda was the third of four children born to Ernest and Lois May.  From the beginning this tiny, quiet sweet baby captured everyone’s heart.  Although tiny in statue she was might in the things she valued.  As a child she was known for defending herself and anyone she thought had been slighted.  Although small, everyone knew not to get on her bad side. Brenda and Wayne married young and celebrated their 48th anniversary while she was in the hospital. Their love for each other extended to their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and anyone who had the privilege of knowing them.  Brenda’s values were carried into her marriage and in the raising of her children. She was blessed with three: Shannon, Leann, and Nicolas. The family grew to include: James, Chloe, Kayla, Mackenzie, Leia, Eliza and great-grandchild Ivy. At one time or the other Brenda kept each of them. To this day they were spoiled with her wonderful cooking (especially macaroni and cheese) and her overwhelming love of each of them. Brenda was humble, unpretentious, kind to her core.  She was always in the background making life easier for the rest of us. She could recite old Andy Griffith shows, loved Gone With the Wind items, country music and most of all family get togethers. Our foundation is rocked by this loss but we will continue to build on her values and the love of family. To say Brenda will be missed is truly an understatement. Heaven opened its doors and welcomed this new angel. May we honor her by carrying on her legacy of family values. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Lois May; brother, Timothy May, and grandchild, Nicolas Wayne Lovelace. Surviving family includes her husband of 48 wonderful years, Wayne Lovelace, sons; Shannon Lovelace (Michael), and Nicolas Lovelace (Jillian); daughter, LeAnn Alford (Scott); siblings, Carolyn Webster (Cary), and Terry May (Susan); grandchildren, James Lovelace, Chloe Lovelace and fiancé Dominic, Kayla Alford, MacKenzie Alford, Leia Lovelace, Eliza Lovelace; precious great-granddaughter, Ivy; nephews, David Webster (Mitzi), TJ May (Mary), Jason May (Chasity), and Aaron May.
A celebration of her life will be Monday, February 21, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev Jeff Gardner officiating.
