Betty Jean Turner, beloved aunt and friend, passed away on August 3, 2022. Betty was the daughter of the late Aldine H. Turner, Sr. and Ila H. Turner. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Aldine H., Jr., and Mildred R. Turner, and her sister and brother-in-law, Nannie T. and Wesley P. Gordon, Sr. She is survived by her nephew, Wesley Gordon, Jr. (Sheri), and niece Susan Quesenberry (Mike), and several cousins. She is also survived by her special friend and companion, Hilda McCracken, and her “New Jersey family”.
Betty was retired from General Electric. Betty was an avid bowler in her younger days, participating in many local leagues and tournaments. In retirement she loved to travel and had many memorable adventures with Hilda. She especially enjoyed trips to casinos. Betty was a kind and generous soul. She had a giving spirit and supported many charities and causes. Her easy-going manner will be missed by family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park on Friday, August 12, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to two of Betty’s favorite charities, the Rescue Mission and Feeding Southwest Virginia.
