Belva Brown Stevens, 92, of Vinton went to her heavenly home on August 8, 2018. She was born in Bedford County. Belva was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, was an excellent cook and seamstress, and loved children. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Walton and Etna Brown; twelve siblings; daughter, Linda Wingfield; granddaughter, Angela Wingfield, and son-in-law, Robert Wingfield.
She is survived by Daniel “Gil” Stevens, the love of her life and husband of 75 years; children, Martha Wingfield, Daniel Stevens Jr.; Francis (Don) Hall, and Lillie Stevens; grandchildren, Denise (Donny) Hutson, Donna (Mark) Lynch, Cindy (Tony) Crouch, Timothy (Michele) Wingfield, Chad Jordan, Rob Jordan, and Melissa Stevens; 14 great- grandchildren, one great-great grandson; sisters-in-law, Peggy and Gladys Brown, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Nancy and other in-home caregivers who helped Belva stay in her home as she struggled with dementia; and to the staff and volunteers she and Gil befriended at the Springtree nursing facility. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 with services held 11:00 AM at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
