Barbara Jean Gross

July 8, 1937 ~ October 1, 2019 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Obituary

Barbara Gross of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 82 on October 1, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones who had the honor of being by her side.
She was a cherished mother, grandmother and sister who left a footprint in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her strength and grace during her brief struggle with cancer was a testimony to the unconditional love she had for her family. Despite her difficult journey, she made certain we all knew how much we meant to her and we had the honor of gathering around our mother to make her final days full of love and care. We were truly blessed to have had our beloved mother who fought fiercely to stay with us as long as she could. A mother’s love is by far without boundaries and truly eternal.

She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Ronald Gross; two sisters, Wilma Criss and Beverly McGee, and one brother, Richard McGee.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Crabb and “son-in-law" Robert Sawyer, and Anne-Marie Wiley and son-in-law Marcus Wiley; six grandchildren, David Jefferson, Jonathon Jefferson, Emma Crabb, Timothy Thomas, Haylie Poe and husband Justin, Elias Thomas and wife Alexa; and six great grandchildren. She also leaves behind six sisters and one brother: Sandy Burnside and husband Jay, Sharon Harvath and husband Vernon, Rose Bramer and husband Benjamin, Jean Davisson and husband Denzil, Karen Burr, Patricia McGee Nutter, and Patrick McGee. Surviving extended family members include: brother-in-law Kenneth Gross and wife Betty, sister-in-law Judy Pinkston and husband Tom, sister-in-law Gloria Jennings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors for viewing starting at 11am on October 4, 2019 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, VA. A memorial service will begin at noon followed by a graveside gathering at Mountain View Cemetery. The family would like to thank Sentara Hospice for caring for mother with dignity and compassion. The emotional support given during this difficult time was a true gift to us all.
