Thomas Snead, 95, of Vinton, passed away on January 24, 2017. Tom was a welder by trade, retired from the City of Roanoke, and a member of Thrasher United Methodist Church. He loved to play the piano, organ and accordion; he was also a Life Member of the Vinton Rescue Squad. Tom was a WWII Army veteran and served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 brother and 5 sisters.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 75 years, Catherine Snead; sons, Tom Snead (Brenda) of Hardy, Sam Snead of Vinton; daughter, Debbie Wright (Wayne) and sister, Jean Chocklett both of Vinton; grandchildren, Robert Snead (Erica) of Salem, Jason Snead (Alisa) of Hardy, Amber Snead (Joe Urich) of Christiansburg, Sarah Justis (Greg) of Vinton; great-grandchildren, Allison White, Emma Snead, Stella Snead, Kaidence Justis, Bennett Urich; special friend, Mary Pugh.
There will be a funeral service at Thrasher United Methodist Church, Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. B. Failes and Pastor Jay Song officiating. Family will receive friends at Lotz Vinton Chapel, January 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Thrasher United Methodist Church or the Vinton Rescue Squad.
