Ms. Mildred "Molly" Thomas McCloud Bishop

Mildred “Molly” Thomas McCloud Bishop, 75, of Vinton passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was a daughter of the late William “Bill” Thomas and Beulah Mae Malone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Turner McCloud, Sr.; brother, Ralph Thomas; and sister, Carole Long.

Molly was born in Gastonia, NC in 1948. She married her husband, John, in 1967 and built a family of three children. After the sad loss of her husband in 1982, Molly dedicated her time to making others lives a joy. Molly was known by many in the Roanoke area for her work at 7-11 and other convenience stores; she made others days with her positive attitude, quick humor, and strong work ethic. As Molly’s family grew, she spent her energy caring for and nurturing her grandkids and others in her life.
Surviving are her children, John Turner McCloud, Jr. (Grace), Gary Wayne McCloud (Kim) and Melissa Dawn Underwood (Shannon); a brother, Charles David Thomas; grandchildren, Joseph Turner McCloud (Whitney), Scarlet Ashley McCloud, Kattie Ann McCloud and fiancé, Chandler, Seth Isaac Underwood and fiancé, Hannah, Drew Christian Underwood and Jonathan Cunha; great-grandchild, Levi; best friend of 60 years, Scarlet Jenkins; and numerous other family and friends.

A celebration of Molly’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 East Washington Ave., Vinton with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Burial will be private.
