Doris Ailene Newman Powers, 88, of Blue Ridge, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Elbert (Bink) Powers; mother, Christine Dooley Newman; father and step-mother, Dewey and Mae Newman, and brothers, Claude and Jack Newman.

Surviving family includes son and daughter-in-law, Stephen O. and Faye Powers; grandchildren, Chris (Jenny) Powers, Aleana (Chris) McClellan, and Teanna (Joey) Hutton; great-grandchildren, Andy and Logan Powers, and Tyra and Jaela Hutton; sister-in-law, Alma Newman; brother-in-law, Jack (Edna) Powers, a special niece, Lois Morgan and other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. Bobby Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Cemetery.
