Donald Eugene Huddleston, 66, of Hardy, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017. He was born in Bedford County and worked for Yokohama Tire Co. for 43 1/2 years. He was a tournament fisherman where he set numerous records and was a member of the Roanoke Valley Bassmasters and the Vinton Bassmasters. He was a proud member of the Barbour’s Creek Hunt Club and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Donald was an Advocate of children and was extremely successful coaching S&C Rec for numerous years. He was predeceased by his parents, Nelson Lee and Louise Jones Huddleston, and brother-in-law, Sammy Thomason.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife and best friend, Meri Huddleston; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Melissa Huddleston and Craig and Alisa Huddleston; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Adrianna, Liam and Robbie; sisters, Virginia Whitlock and husband, Ken, and Gloria Thomason; numerous nieces and nephews and special buddy, Charlie.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Lotz Funeral Home Vinton Chapel with Pastor Monroe Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
