Nicely, Carissa Jeanne, 22, of Vinton, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014. Carissa was born on Valentine’s Day 1992 in Newport News VA. She moved with her family to Hayward CA when she was 9. There, she was an honor roll student and a first place regional champion cheerleader for the Hayward Lancers. She also played basketball on the St Clements girls’ team. At age 15 she came back to Virginia and attended Stanton River H.S., then went on to Miller-Motte Technical College and Fast Track Health Care Education in Roanoke. She was a licensed phlebotomist. Carissa recently worked at Famous Anthony’s restaurant in Vinton and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Our sweetest princess is now an angel. Carissa is survived by her loving mother and step-father, Shelley and Rich Moellering and father, Christopher J Nicely, her sisters Amanda R. Nicely and Kristin L. Nicely, grandparents, Marty James and Michael & Loraine James, Charles E. & Jean Nicely, and Susan & Richard Moellering Sr., great-grandparents, Virginia & Carter C. James, niece, Nevayah Nicely, nephew, Jackson Nicely, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Lotz Funeral Home Vinton Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
